The engine applies a torque on the axle through the gearbox (when the gearbox is not set on free wheeling). The clutch applies a torque on the axle when engaged. The angular velocities of the engine and the axle are linked by the ratio of the gearbox. Formally: T(engine)/R - T(clutch) = (R*I(axle) + I(engine)/R) * accel(engine) and accel(axle) = -R*accel(engine)
